I have gone through interviews at Google and AWS. As PL1 above said coming in at a level 6 at google or aws is really hard (gcp level 6 equals experienced aws level 6 or new level 7).
Experience wise you need to be really sharp technically and have senior manager level skills.
Level 5 is about 10 years experience.
Most of my friends that went to either form w around 4-6 years of experience came in as level 4.
Their total comp was around 165-180 for that level
1) Coming in as a principal from what I hear is pretty difficult.
2) It would probably be an L6 role; Which is usually 3-6ish years post MBA if you joined straight out of school (depending on performance)
3) Also probably depends on team
Side question: Given that titles vary across firms, why are you focused on the “principal” role
Thanks for the insight! Not set on the title by any means but the role description reads like my resume in a division I’m excited about. The title seems misaligned based on required experience which is why the question came to mind.
