If you are a green card holder or US citizen, it may be worthwhile to explore roles in the Federal space. My current project has 8 Scrum teams— all of which are onshore.
Deloitte is consulting firm . You were nvr hired as salesforce developer always as consultant if you want dev role get transferred to USDC
Depends on the company. This was definitely not standard at non-b4 companies I worked for but did seem standard for another b4 I was at.
The onshore developers on my current team do plenty of actual dev work. Depending on the project they do work with/handoff work to the offshore team, and they’re sometimes pulled into client calls for technical conversations. but they’re not doing functional consulting. I’m not a dev but free to message me if you have any questions or want a referral!
I’m at Accenture’s federal subsidiary (Accenture Federal Services), and all of our salesforce development is for clients in the US federal government.
You can also look for a different job at a smaller company where all your development is just for that one company. It likely won’t pay as much, though.
Ex Deloitte. In gps/commercial space the development is generally done by USDC/USI you can play both Functional or Technical roles. IMO its a way of optimizing the cost (or save money). You can take the functional requirement translate to technical requirement much better than a functional person. If you really want to do the development try USDC offices. I would suggest continue this role and try to establish your niche as an architect.
Thanks! I was thinking of trying to grow into this role, but I was hoping to get more development under my belt aswell so I can truly lead by example at the architect level, I will definitely look into USDC though thanks!
Coastal Cloud is completely onshore, and I believe Slalom is, too.
Many times consulting firms operate this way. I have few developer friends working in other techs like Java, .net etc who don’t really do any development work and all the development work goes to offshore teams. It is not salesforce dev specific. If you want to do core development work then reevaluating your priorities and opportunities offered by your current job would help.
Message me, I will refer you
