Anyone have any book or podcast recommendations to help with becoming a more positive person? Mostly on a personal level, not professionally if that matters.

The Mindset Mentor and The Positive Head Podcast are two of my absolute favorite podcasts. I was going through a really hard time and needed something to help me change my mindset and The Mindset Mentor really helped me to do that. I woudl highly recommend giving it a listen OP.

I recommend a book I read last year called "Emotional Intelligence 2.0" by Jean Greaves and Travis Bradberry. Very insightful. It helps you identify your own emotional triggers and how to navigate them. It also helps you identify emotional traits in others and how to deal with personalities who have a low emotional intelligence and how to help others in that area

depends on what u understand under positive person.

i would be very careful as toxic positivity is still popular on many channels while our psychology NEEDS to experience all spectrum of emotions, especially those like sadness, angry, grief.
all of them are important, valid, valuable and serves to special purpose

This book was written by a psychologist who developed the branch of positive psychology, Dr. Marty Seligman. I.e. this is one of the most reliable resources.

NDAs for Nannies? I was wondering how everyone who is doing some work from home during covid handles in-house caregivers? Obviously we all take all steps to protect confidential information and realistically a caregiver isn't going to be exposed to anything we do, but does anyone require an NDA just to be on the safe side? (I dont have an in home caregiver yet, but just thinking about it.)

Our annual reviews are approaching & one of my direct reports has been with us for almost six years w/ little growth. My reco was to let him go & find a stronger, hungrier & more motivated designer at the same level. However, my boss instead wants us to promote him in hopes that will spark some motivation. I am not behind this decision & have voiced my multitude of concerns in promoting an employee who doesn't deserve it. HR is behind the decision! Thoughts on promoting an undeserving report?

Hi everyone!

After years of hard work, I just got my first position in a leadership role! Yay! I’ll be leading a team of 12.
I wanted to know if you had any tips for me, things you wish you knew before, or things previous leaders did for/to you that you found admirable or stayed with you. I want to make sure I’m there for them and want to be a leader they will remember positively.

Thank you so much!!

"Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time
