Highly dependent on geography, stage, performance, and team dynamics.
Analysts are paid anywhere from 60k (entry level at accelerator/really small fund) to 150k (entry level at top fund)
Associates are paid anywhere from 100k (same as above) to 200 or even 300k, depending on carry figures (you’re more likely to get carry, especially at smaller funds).
Fwiw I’m getting 160k base + bonus of 20-50% + carry at a midcap fund, and that’s considered quite high in my fund peerset.

It depends. Different firms have different needs, and given how small most VC teams are (my investment team is 3 partners and 4 professionals for a soon-to-be $700MM fund) you can imagine there are big dislocations in needs (and to CD1’s point, compensation) for each fund.
I had a big role in my school’s startup incubator and was pretty involved in my city’s scene so that was helpful. Also being good at sizing/modeling/diligence (was a former very competitive mathlete) which made me stand out a bit.

VCA1 got an excellent offer. The highest I have seen around me is around $120k base with 2YOE.
Ya I’m 110 + 20-40% bonus, minimal carry.
Would love make 160 + bonus but feeling like more like 130 based on where I’m at now. Wish it was more transparent didn’t even negotiate when I got in lol
