OP: I used to be but the issue is Being a consultant is more like 1.5 FTE in terms of effort and don’t really have time to track a large volume of stocks and analyze fundamentals. If you really want to maximize opportunities, you need to read reports etc. Do you all have time for that? I switched to index funds as investing is not my primary job.

I would love to be but feel like I don’t have the time to devote to it. It seems like to be an effective value investor you really need to do extensive due diligence on every investment.

like

Definitely interested, but I don’t have the time or access to data that institutional investors have to make good investment decisions even for value stocks.

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
