I do insurance coverage and bad faith. I’d say that there isn’t as much pressure for coverage opinion letters, but litigation is litigation so when there’s a deadline there’s not much that can be done about that in terms of timing.
I’ve only been at one firm and there have been times when I have been working like crazy and other times that I haven’t. I think it’s a matter of the firm and whether there is work life balance.
No. The majority of my work is advising on coverage and preparing coverage position letters to be sent to insureds. We generally have sophisticated insureds so if there are issues with the position it typically is worked out before any lawsuit is filed.
Bad faith can be a different story, but that also is a lot of negotiation.
Been doing coverage for 7 years. Generally, WLB has been great. I will say I did have a short period of time where I worked with an insane partner who did not respect my boundaries, so I guess like everything else, it is partner and team specific.
