I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?
Hi Fishes,
Does Deloitte USI have any cool down period, if you apply and do not get any response from the company? I had previously applied in a role, but didn't hear back from them. So, I'm planning to try to apply via referral this time and I'm wondering if I should use the same e-mail ID or a different one! Deloitte USI

Anyone have experience working CWX side of Facebook (Meta) ? These are the full time contract roles that potentially turn into permanent roles directly with Facebook (Meta). Had a recruiter reach out and offering me comparable TC and such, just curious if anyone has experience in these roles and success/failure of transitioning into permanent role. Thanks in advance!

All copywriters are strategists.
And all strategists are copywriters. Just for internal work.
It adds value by making you do two people’s jobs 🤔.
You can’t be a strategist AND be the one coming up with ideas. But you should be a good writer. And a copywriter SHOULD be strategic. But the roles each have responsibilities beyond those overlaps which don’t make them that compatible as one. Like research/all those endless planning meetings etc. and for copywriters it’s knowing a buzz worthy idea and not just a strategic one, brainstorming visually, writing scripts etc
Agency
Im at a small studio and handle all copy and strategy deliverables. The value i bring is that I’m an efficient 2-4-1 for an agency that doesn’t have consistent copy or strat needs. I’m always busy but split between two disciplines.
Why not try to increase your value there, especially if you enjoy it? Just curious.
I mean that's kind of what it used to be. Copywriters would come up with insights to launch their writing off of and the more business oriented advertising became the more sense it made for a new role in the form of a planner.
There are some social/content only shops that have roles like this.
From my understanding that’s essentially what a creative strategist is, and I’ve seen most of those types of roles for in-house / publisher shops. Might be a hot take but I could see these hybrid roles becoming more commonplace in agencies eventually. Strategists are supposed to think creatively, and we might as well get more practice doing so
Red Antler was hiring for something that sounded like that a while back
Sounds like someone who isn’t good enough at either to make it work, but represents a good deal on cost savings to a client for unimportant content that needs to be cost effective and can be optimistic by a monkey with a typewriter.
Yeah, that also.
I’ve had a couple freelance gigs where I ended up doing copy.. they were at smaller less traditional agencies where roles are more fluid. Kind of refreshing in a way.

👋 Small shop, primarily strategy but do the copy too if there’s not a big enough budget to bring in a contractor.
