Anyone here stash their money in a normal savings account instead of 401k/investment vehicles and will be using it to pay for B-school?

Can someone help me calculate the differences in a SEP IRA with a lower base pay vs. a higher base with 401k pre-tax contributions? Employer pays the SEP but I figure if I got a higher base and paid into the 401k myself I’d still get the tax benefit.

When we file taxes for 2020, I know we can look into deducting the interest payments, but I suspect the standard deduction for a couple is going to essentially be the same as our interest payments. So if that’s the case, will we see any additional tax benefits from buying a house beyond what we’d get from standard deduction?

Pro rata backdoor help - I have pre and post tax in a traditional IRA and need to clear that to start doing backdoor Roth without a taxable event, from what I understand. My plan is to roll out the pretax to my 401k and then convert the post tax to Roth, but neither my 401k plan nor the place where I have the IRA can tell me exactly how much of my IRA is pretax and earnings. Can anyone walk me through this and/or confirm if my plan of how to get myself set up for the backdoor is right?

$130k is not enough to cover living expenses for me and my wife in N. Va. We always overspend by around $300 every month.

We are doing this thing where we live on my income (the 130k) and save all the money my wife makes, because I was naive enough to think I made a lot of money.

Just bought a new house and turns out we need a new roof. Did not come up in the inspection. Word of advice - find a trusted contractor friend who would take a look at the house for you before purchasing. Feel a bit defeated as a first time home buyer.
