Our Philadelphia-area boutique firm whose practice works exclusively with nonprofits and charities is hiring due to growth. Tax is the basis of Exempt Org work. That is why I am posting here. Great practice working to further charitable missions of our clients. Good WLB (1300 hour billable requirement). Opportunity for the right person to work remotely. I haven’t but I’m in the field. Tax tends to be a side service. Much easier to do tax at a larger firm if you have a busy corporate group feeding you tax work. If you go to a boutique without corporate group, it’s harder to keep busy.
I worked briefly at a tax boutique before going to Biglaw. It wasn't the right fit, because you are so limited in what you can do without a corporate practice. I then went from Biglaw to in house to midlaw. If Biglaw is burning you out, and don't want to go in house, the right midlaw firm is probably the best fit.
I am also selfishly looking for a tax mid level...so message me if you're interested.
Be prepared to lose training opportunities and deep pocketed clients
Some boutique tax firms will also do general business and transactional work; so the practice may not be limited to “pure” tax. Depending on one’s perspective that can be a positive or a negative aspect…but if the issue is whether you would have enough work to do in a boutique, then a tax firm that also handles transactional work may be a better way to go.
I don’t mean to hijack, but I would love to know your thoughts on Florida tax boutiques. I didn’t even know that market existed
Yes; I agree with Senior Counsel 1.
