Looking for a good room divider while we’re WFH. My husband and I share an office, our desks face each other. I don’t want to look at the back of his monitors / the disaster on his desk anymore so looking for something that goes between our desks. Something that muffles sound would be good as well but not required
I have lost all joy at work since work from home started. I look forward to nothing at work other than it being over. Before covid, I was excited to attack the day. Anyone else feeling like this?
What are your favorite places/brands for buying casual dresses? I’m WFH and STRUGGLING with productivity. I’m now “getting dressed” every a.m. in hopes of tricking myself into more motivation. I feel ridiculous wearing my usual work clothes, so I’m looking for dresses/options that are more casual but are still real clothes? Please also share any tips for (1) resetting when you’ve let your life go to hell and are v overwhelmed with fixing it and (2) staying focused + motivated while WFH. TIA!
PSA: if your hotel TV has an insufferable input lock-out (changing to an HDMI is disabled), get a cheap universal remote. I got one, hit input, and I'm now using the TV as a second monitor.
Anyone interested in $100 to StitchFix? I just got a code to share that’s good for 48 hours and I would hate for it to go to waste. Will post the link in the comments. They are great for work attire (including WFH attire) if you feel like adding any pieces.
Work from home week.... you came just in time, another week on the road and was about to lose it 😊
Freelance creative copywriter living outside of main centers in the North East (USA). Pre-pandemic, I had a hard time finding any sort of remote freelance work with agencies and had to stick to direct client stuff or smaller local marketing shops (uninspiring and not going to be something for my website). I'd kinda given up on getting back into agency life until I left the US, but are agencies more open to remote freelance creatives these days? How is partnering CWs & ADs remotely?
I was laid off in June and just got a job offer that I am excited about. However, my partner and I are also in discussions about moving. The job would be remote for at least another 5+ months so it wouldn’t be an issue now, but eventually people will be back in the office in some hybrid plan. Is it better to float the possibility of working remote long term with HR now? Or do I accept and say nothing til we’ve officially decided to move. I don’t want to lose the opportunity. What would u do?
Embarrassing question but have any of you had a hemorrhoid procedure done? I’ve had a really annoying internal one for over a year and nothing has worked, including prescription from a gastroenterologist. I just want to solve this while remote and trying to research what recovery might be like.
I trust the FIRE community’s advice so what steps would you take if you were in my shoes: I moved back home (very remote area) from a city to save money during WFH, which was huge for FI progress. I have started to really resent my job and absolute lack of social life, but can’t find another job I’m passionate about or justify moving back to a high COL area. I think taking FI too extreme might be hurting my mental health. What would you do if you were me? (More details below)
BCG 🐠 do you have opportunities to work remote on your cases or are they primarily high touch f2f engagements? trying to understand the work flexibility. Got an offer!!
Looking for suggestions for house plants (two or three varieties) that look good, don’t attract insects and worms, hardy, and low maintenance (don’t need daily watering). Now that WFH is here for some part of 2021, I wanted to bring some plants to my home office. Pictures of your own home office plants are also much appreciated. TIA!
Any tips for busy season WFH? I am starting to prepare myself for working busy season (Jan-Mar) from home, and I am so overwhelmed. I feel like the energy of working with my team in the audit room and going out to HH etc. is what gets me through, 70 hour weeks from home seems really daunting. I am single and live by myself, so I will be alone most of the day.
Help! Got a great offer from a competitor. However, my mom-in-law got very ill a few days ago, and is in a coma. Current firm allowing me to be remote 2/3 of the time indefinitely. [cont]
NYC folks - are you going to the office today? 😒 I just feel like I should wfh, but my manager doesn’t think so 😒😒
What are your thoughts on working remote? I'm a Tech Consultant and I have just been asked by my boss to start working remote 2 on 2 off, I feel like it sets a bad precedent....
Would you rather take a BizOps role offering 105 TC or Product Analyst role at 90 TC (PM track)? 1 YOE Does the “breaking into PM” factor justify this initial pay cut? Trying to think long term here
College hire at Deloitte for 4+ years now. Was up for early promotion to SC but didn't get it due to COVID (had full support from project leadership etc.) Recently started looking for other opportunities - I have really just grown away from the firm and have started hating it here. I am in GPS CBO - mainly working on health care related tech projects (which I know is a great industry). I am in my 4th round interview with a Valley start-up (~150 people and 20 production customers) and (cont'd)
Recruiter shared post on-site feedback and she mentioned that she would like to do the team match and do 1-2 additional rounds of interviews because the feedbacks now are borderline and have a very low chance of HC. Any team here who's hiring SAP Program Manager role? Please kindly keep in contact with me :)
Have any fishes joined a startup as a chief of staff after 2 - 5 YOE? What did your comp look like? How do you enjoy your role, and what about it is different from consulting?
Wow, I’m new to this group and am shocked by the visa struggles people are experiencing. Very grateful that my parents brought me over as a young child. Good luck everyone.. your kids will thank you!
I would only do an MBA if it’s fully sponsored, that being said has anyone had luck with any of the minority sponsorship programs?
Any recommendations about negotiating comp for s3-m1 during the discussion with partner ? Is it looked down upon to bring up a competing offer (if any) and use it as leverage ? Or should you talk(cont
What’s the TC for a management consulting, finance transformation (or equivalent) manager at big 4? Interested in West Coast cities.
I am interviewing for a product manager role and asked to submit a 2-pages proposal regarding the idea that i proposed. Is there a specific template that i need to follow, if anybody knows?
I'm thrilled that recruiters have reached out to me for a role I love at almost double comp. I can do/do/have done every responsibility for the role, but one part of the description gives me pause--it requires 10yrs experience in this space. I have 5.5 directly applicable and another 6 that's applicable but not often considered (I had a unique military job). And, this particular leadership role has not been common in corporate America before a couple years ago. (Cont.)
Considering leaving NYC for a smaller city and so stressed about it. Can’t enjoy what makes it so great because of COVID-19, and it’s not clear when we’ll be able to again. Has anyone made a move for the same reason? Are you sad? Do you regret it?
What's it like being an FS Consulting Director in London for Big 4? I'm ex-Accenture & industry Buy-Side and was a Director in both roles. I'm keen to know the following: - Typical base & bonus? - What kind of targets do Directors get given? Are they revenue/margin based? Number of new clients? - What's the work life balance like at Director level? - What's it like competing with other Directors within the team, all vying for the Partner track? Particularly as I'm not ex-big 4 or homegrown -
One hour delay on United this morning due to crew unavailability. Worth asking for points or credit? If yes, how much?
Did my new client get the same training program as EY and decide to deploy a special WiFi network for a certain type of brains?
I have 7 years of experience in strategy and had applied for a manager position in industry. The hiring manager said I was better suited for a senior manager role and interviewed me for that. I made..
