Anyone use python in big 4 tax? If so, what are some practical uses?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Are there certain firms that are more accepting of Tax backgrounds entering advisory positions? I’m a CPA with a couple years regional tax experience looking to transition to advisory/deals, but have struggled getting big 4 advisory interviews even with solid recommendations.
I’ve heard there’s solid opportunities in advisory type work for some other large firms outside big 4. Has anybody made a similar transition?

Does anyone have knowledge of the financial crimes practice in KPMG? I am interviewing for a position to move there from a current forensics position. The KPMG recruiter explained that its an extremely small practice and I wouldn't be doing a lot of the "grunt" work any more like clearing alerts in AML etc. I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on what this practice really does? Online info is not that descriptive. Also, is the 80-100 percent travel really true or is a bit less?

How does one try to learn Altyrx with no experience and no (current) access to it? I work at a small firm and am going crazy with so many inefficiencies in repetitive tasks occupying myself and my staffs time. Do you code at all in tax tech? Or is it lostly macros and Alteryx?
