You would be truly amazed what stress and poor sleep does to your body. You’re almost certainly having panic attacks. Yes, they happen even when you’re asleep and even if you don’t “feel stressed.”
Lay on the floor, elevate your feet, and try to take deep breaths. Screw around on your phone or on the internet. Distractions really help. If you can’t get your HR down and it’s freaking you out, fill up your sink with really cold water and submerge your face.
I never elevate my feet, I just curl up in a ball and cry. I’ll try this.
OP you need to chill and take care of yourself first. Peace ✌️
You need to take care of yourself
Thank you all so much. I’m finally feeling the courage to bring it up with one of my mentors at work.
No time-sensitive deliverable is worth ruining your mental and physical health. To me it sounds like you are under a lot of pressure and that stresses you to a point that you are close to a burn-out. My advise:
1) Talk to a co-worker or mentor you trust
2) Talk to HR
3) Talk to the partner on your assignment (you would be surprised on how open people are to these conversations)
Thank you, it’s a tough thing to do but I’m at the point where I just may.
Check for cardiovascular disease
Have had blood panels, imaging, everything and got consistently clean bills of health
Please. Take a break
Take care of yourself friend. No one else will... sounds like your having anxiety and potentially panic. It’s not worth it- call your MD, talk to a therapist, get some support. Nothing to be ashamed of... I did it- was going through the same and took some time off and realized it ain’t worth it. Said Goodbye to Deloitte this week.
Good for you! Do you know where you’re going next?
Are you living in a new place? When did these symptoms start? Try to track down what changed when you started experiencing this - maybe there is some other sort of trigger besides work or stress
I love headspace, it is what is saving me right now.
Pro
LexaPro has helped me tremendously. My anxiety was out of control, and it really helped me reset.
OP, I second all the chill recommendations, suggest TM or meditation, but suggest more investigation into physical health (consider a functional therapist) and diet. I had a similar situation and it turned out that I had picked up a bug (like Giardia which you can pick up from swimming in a lake) took some antiparasitics and now I can get as stressed as I want and sleep through the night. Since the symptoms are all over the place it’s very difficult for typical doctors to detect. They can only rule out what it’s not.
Looks like anxiety. Deloitte offers free therapy sessions. Try using those
Go to the ER dude, sounds like the precursor to a heart attack
