I have an initial recruiter phone interview with Square Thursday. Is it it just a phone call or is it a video call and they didn’t specify. If it’s a video call what’s the dress code like? I’m coming from consulting so all my interviews were in suits. Any tips to get past the recruiter phone screen?

Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.
I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.
Realistically, making to Director is 2-3 years away and will require sacrificing time with my family that I am not prepared to give up.
Should I stay or should I go?

In my experience they like to ask oddly specific technical questions and use cases, then give you an "FYI correct answer". Maybe it helps their ego thinking they know so much more than the applicants...on stuff they looked up ahead of time.
I am so glad i got out of Deloitte. It’s a corporate country club and i didn’t realize how bad the culture was until i was exposed to something else
Makes sense - so the resource holding of analysts and consultants is primarily a Deloitte thing I assume especially good analysts and consultants
Nah that’s how much they are Deloitted to meet you
Was previously at D and was treated poorly almost every time I interviewed with D alums except for my current manager haha
at my Deloitte interview a partner asked me - "What was your legal status when you came to this country". Thats when I decided that the company is not for me
I think much of the time the question “where are you from?” Is really “why aren’t you white” but I also think there is an innocent, curious friendly version of it. People don’t want to assume they know, they would like to know someone better, and see it as a relevant path to connecting or not leaving someone out of the conversation. I think this is common among slightly older people who have more curiousity than sensitivity.
The well intentioned version, to be clear, would never respond to “I am Korean” with “oh well I love Chinese food”.
Yes, Deloitte is also the only one out of the big 4 to act like this, in my experience.
Yeah Deloitters have been the worst, generally speaking. They always try to squeeze in somehow why they didn’t “pick” MBB or the why it didn’t work out but make sure to mention that they got far in the interview

Yea... everyone who didn’t make it must be absolute failures...

All of your tears are delicious. They energize and fuel us. 🤪🤣
If the hiring managers were SMs at Deloitte, I could see this happening; the level just breaks people and leaves sharp edges.
On the other hand, while I, as a Deloitte alum, am as happy as the next 🐠 to jump on the D-teasing bandwagon on FB, my experiences with people at the M and below levels were nothing but positive and supportive.
Drawing sweeping generalizations about a large and diverse population is always a bad idea, and junior folks reading posts of varying negativity about all our firms would do well to remember that.
I see tears all over the place here. I have spent 6 years at Deloitte, and was by far, one of the best places I have ever worked at.

Maybe they are hoping that you could get them a job at your firm
Is it just deloitte hiring managers or consulting hiring managers? All the ex-MBB ones I interviewed with for industry jobs wrote me off in the same way 🤷♂️
Ds so big that we forget the internal variation in culture. Personally I love my department
Everyone experience is different, I can tell you that in the Oracle practice people are great for the most part. I had several family related issues and problems with work/life balance. After I expressed my frustration and stress the partners took quick action. I am greatful to be part of this organization.
Also my interviews were focuesed my experience not about my views or my status.
