Have an offer for a SM strategy role in industry. Offer is coming in at 280- 300 TC. Total experience 10+ years, 7 YOE at MBB, T5 MBA, MCOL city. Am I being low balled? Should I continue to search for something better?

Help- The project I am on is about to kick off a huge multimillion dollar implementation but I know I am underpaid. Also I feel like I am not being utilized to my full potential, and have witnessed some *not* best practices. I want out, but I also think this implementation is an opportunity for learning and in 9ish months could offer better exit opps. Should I stick it out or is 2yo consultancy and a masters degree worth looking for a new job now?

I’m finding that a weird side effect of losing my job in this climate is ad agencies taking advantage of my weakened position. They get in touch, proactively or in response to my reaching out, and they want to hire me as they are in good shape. When I reveal I was laid off, the offer changes to freelance or maybe nothing. I’m in a bit of a dilemma. During covid I took a government role. WLB is amazing and I’m finally recovering from burnout. Job is easy. Team and management is quite good. Pay is fine (could be much better.) I’m still interested to challenge myself and build my career so I do want to move to something more fast-paced as things get back to normal. On the other hand I don’t know if I should keep this job and use the extra time to work on side-hustle and hobbies. Also may apply to MBA next year.

If given an offer with a large base but not a ton of equity (ex: $120k base and equivalent of $10k equity vested per year) at a tech company expected to IPO within a year, would it be wise to ask to exchange cash for equity? Ex: $110k base $20k equity? Put differently, are huge jumps in valuation typical for IPOs, and thus should I try and maximize that component if I’m more than happy with base?
