Are partners that blame you when things go awry, even though you warned them, the norm or am I working with a particularly bad one? Partner “Let’s do X” me: “Ok! But just so you know, Y” Consequence of Y happens. Partner “It’s really not okay that Y happened, you need to do better next time”

Yeah I avoid working with people like that. Major red flag if someone always resorts to blaming.

Particularly bad. I also work for a senior who does this (in addition to the partner). Shocking how quick and often these people can get amnesia everytime y happens.

Hi! I see a bowl dedicated to the Entertainment Industry generally speaking, but not specifically for Gaming. And lord knows there’s more than enough to get its own! This bowl is dedicated to the blood-sweat-and-tearers, the crunchiers, the dreamers and all the fishes, small and big, that work in an industry now worth more than music and movies combined! Let’s discuss news, hardships, victories and hopefully we’ll all get to learn from each other and make this industry better from the inside.

Hi there, I have 3.5 YOE working for NHS Finance. I applied to Deloitte Risk Advisory, Public Sector (London, UK) and was successful. Waiting to hear back with package offer but it’s been over 2 weeks - was told they may offer M2 grade, any ideas what this is?
I’m also interviewing for Senior consultant role also at Deloitte. How much would this typically pay?
Torn whether to stay within NHS as I will be getting an internal promotion or move to Deloitte.

Hi all! What would you do with this indoor yucca? I never expected it to live in the first place, and now she’s 5 feet tall! The stems are getting gnarly and curving. Should I trim this plant, or get some wire to help it grow straighter? Maybe this is just how they grow 🤷🏻‍♀️

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

I have ADD and occasionally make small mistakes in my work, like leaving a word missing when editing sentences, small formatting errors or leaving an internal comment in drafts sent to clients. All partners have been very understanding and care about the quality of my work, and no client has ever complained. Partners and clients praise my work.

But now, one partner has become super mad and when I explained ADD, he said:

I’m a 9th year in a mostly litigation-based practice group at a one-tier partnership firm. My group’s billable hours have been low the last few years, so making partner will be nearly impossible, and a counsel position is not viable long-term in my group. What’s the best option here if partnership is the ultimate goal? Try to get a NEP/counsel position at another firm, which is likely difficult in my market, or offer to take a class cut by a few years?

Getting worried about hours. Last year I was really low (first year associate), I’ve had really good reviews so far and no negative feedback. This month was slow too (about 95), and I really don’t understand why I can’t get work? I’ve asked different partners, including the heads of my groups, but it hasn’t really materialized anything. Should I consider lateraling?
