By the time Ai grows enough to actually replace jobs I'll be senior enough to not worry about it. Id sorry more for current college students
There is anxiety for sure but these things are out of our control so sweating about it to the extent that it causes mental harm is futile.
Also AI impact will just not be on white collar jobs which is already happening but the impact will be felt more broadly in the economy when reduced overall spending for folks due to less income, reduced local business growth due reduced spending, loss of jobs there, less demand for housing, stock markets decline etx. Even folks who retire will see portfolios reduce
But we cant control these things, best to continue to optimise portfolio and be happy today!
Honestly if you’re just thinking about this now you’re way behind the curve
What are you doing to stay ahead of the curve?

Not worried at all. AI is a tool, and like other tools before it, AI is massively over-hyped. Everyone will use AI to be more efficient overall, but once everyone is using it, there won't be a major competitive advantage. It may cut a few heads, like computers did in the 80s, but it's not going to eliminate all work.
I’m more worried about my children. We have enough squirreled away to LeanFi or BaristaFi, but are going to keep grinding another 8-10 years to set them up better. Mid 30s right now so it feels reasonable to keep going for their sake.
I am trying to get to my coast number in the next five years so I can get to barista fire
No, I’d say be very mindful of what you use and ask AI for. (Why keep feeding it info?) Stay sharp and make sure the people that matter know who you are and what you do for them or the company. Basically don’t become complacent or too comfortable.
My advice is learn AI and lean it. There will be lots of opportunities to contribute and earn serious money :). I started my AI journey about two years ago, applied to my job, got promoted to director, and got a few certifications along the way. AI is not too difficult to learn and rewarding. Best of luck!
I chose Microsoft as the platform since it is most popular compared to Google/GCP, Amazon/AWS. Depending on your area of interests and your role at work, here are some paths to get started. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/browse/?terms=aI

I think AI job replacement makes saving heavily now all the more important
Yes but I don’t know what to do about it lol
Task related roles have been cut / outsourced over the last 20 years. Most roles today require you to be creative , innovative or work within a regulatory framework. In these cases , AI is just a tool that smart people will use to become more efficient

Safe to assume you will have to keep learning and adjusting at a faster pace. Keep up with AI and get really good at it. There is still a moment right now where most everyone is still at the starting line, and you can distinguish yourself. Other than that, maintain a defensive spending posture, save more than normal to weather the uncertainty and increase your peace of mind.
AI is just like other tools that have come before it is a man made tool. Many are loosing jobs to it but there other fileds that are not 100% AI
Even without AI, career progression isn't guaranteed. People plateau all of the time. In any era, your career progression will depend on a combination of technical skills, soft skills and choices about what you work on.
As someone who worked in tech, I'll admit that I'm glad that I got started when I did because I was able to get out before the AI fearmongering set in. I "retired early" last year. I'm in my 30s. In 5 years, I expect my field to look a lot different, but the sharp and ambitious people will still do well. The people who got a skill and were content with coasting along without updating their skills are the ones who will be laid off and complaining online.
