Food for thought this a Friday. Quiet quitting has been trending for the last few weeks. This is problematic in two ways. A) Doesn’t actually identify the root cause for burnout (I.e abuse at work or poor company culture B) Completely dismisses a whole demographic of people unable to do the bare minimum without facing penalty. Any other thoughts? https://www.theroot.com/why-is-quiet-quitting-a-thing-for-white-people-but-n-1849407594/amp

McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

This is such a great question, adding to that: how do you move forward in these situations when you can’t trust HR to take appropriate action?
Ugh. This hurts my professional heart. Assuming you don’t trust HR, I would seek out someone in a leadership role whom you do trust. In my professional career, there is always at least 1 person who genuinely cares and wants to help. If not that, you seem to be referencing a toxic culture and obviously, you’re not the only person who senses it. Perhaps, gathering a group of your colleagues with whom you have commiserated and schedule a meeting with HR (safety in numbers) and/or agency leaders to discuss and document your concerns. Also, you should try to hold your agency accountable to an engagement/cultural survey (if they have one) and air your concerns there. Not a perfect answer, for sure, but I hope that gives some alternative avenues for redress.
Move like a gangster.
Thank you Nadia, I value and appreciate your advice.
