I have not heard but we’ll never know in advance. Yeah it’s rough with Dell, Intel and now Cisco announcing recent layoffs.
The US tends to have weaker employment rights than elsewhere so the same applies to other countries

I have not heard anything but you never know. Honestly, I think a recession or poor performing economy will not affect lay offs at companies like meta and Google as much as AI. Both meta and Google are making huge pushes towards AI and replacing actual employees as they go whenever possible.
True! We're essentially designing our own replacements haha.
My contacts at Facebook have been sharing more job postings in the last few weeks.
People have been predicting (and some have been cheerleading for) a recession for three and a half years and it hasn't happened. But layoffs may happen even as the recession doesn't. With large companies like Google and Meta it tends to be some division was overstaffed and they decide it's not working and they clean house. That's probably just part of the business from now on, companies try to anticipate trends, and if they don't pan out things go sideways.
I agree! Meta shifted their focus from the Meta verse and I can't imagine everyone on that team got absorbed. I am more trying to get a feel for potential cost cutting measures that will affect (almost) all teams.
