Are weddings too commercialized and does the orchestration of the average American wedding miss-emphasize what is important? I’m so EXCITED to be married. But also, I’m like dang, weddings have more time, communications, and funds being dedicated to random wedding contractors rather than bride / groom. It feels like there are a lot of distractions from what is important.

they are but it's not just the US. There are other cultures/countries that have multi-day celebrations and it's not uncommon to have 1000+ guests. Don't do anything you don't want to. It's your day and perfectly fine to have something more low key and simple. You may enjoy that far more!

Not for nothing but have you ever seen other culture’s weddings? I 100% agree with you but also understand that for some, this is the biggest day of their life and they want it to be this next level magical experience. To each their own as who are we to tell someone else what day they should overemphasize. And I’m terms of America, anything someone can get you to spend money on, they will extract every cent they can. Capitalism

Don’t feel obligated to do all the “traditional” or “expected” things for your wedding. No one is going to notice if you don’t spend $500 on a cake that tastes like cardboard or if you don’t have 14 people in your wedding party. Only do (and pay for) what’s important to you.

Valentine’s Day is much worse than weddings. Completely made up holiday and doesn’t mark anything important.

Ugh I wanted to take my son to see a UFC match in person. Just so happens there is one in November at Madison Square Garden - great right! I knew the tickets would be expensive, was willing to pay $400 to $500 a ticket as long as they were decent. The cheapest ticket in the whole arena, basically top row so you can’t see crap, is $506 before you start with the fees!!! Am I wrong or is that just bananas???? Oh well, pay per view it is, maybe have some friends over. Just complaining… happy Friday!
