You get $300 back for literally anything related to travel so it's really $150 annual fee. I love that card for transferring points from other chase cards and booking flights at 1.5x. The only reason for getting rid of it would be to get the signup bonus again.
I just checked, I was charged only 450 in 2020 and 2021 so I'm financially responsible after all 🤣
Eh keeping it. The net fee is still only $150, which the perks and high value points still justify. Even if I only traveled once a year, that’d be worth it, and I travel more than that.
Ugh but kind of annoy that the doordash and Lyft pink deal is only a year long instead of a permanent thing :/
I didn't realize that. Def didn't take any advantage of Lyft benefits last year.
I have the Amex Platinum and will not be renewing, partially for this reason and also bc they’re raising their annual fee. Looking at cash back cards as a replacement.
I have both and agree. I don't see much value in the 'new benefits and new fee' of the platinum card
Yeah I’m probably going to downgrade for a year or two and then upgrade back to the reserve
Downgraded mine to a Freedom Unlimited. Gonna sign up for a Sapphire Preferred once the 30 day transition is up to hopefully jump on their current 100k promo.
Had my CSR since 2016 on launch, so clear for that.
Yeah I’m keeping it. In 2020 I came out just barely ahead of the $150 net cost, but that still makes it worth it IMO.
No, it’s easy to make the perks worthwhile even in this climate. Travel literally once and stack points.

Keeping. The Sapphire made sure you could get the full $300 travel benefit during the pandemic by making it apply to things like groceries, so traveling less didn’t really impact me at all. Yes, I have more points “in reserve” but I know I’ll use them for travel again (I’m already flying periodically to see family.)
I downgraded my CSR last year but kept Amex platinum since they gave out more “wfh friendly” benefits to offset the travel.
I also still have Marriott bonvoy card and delta Amex because I know I’ll still do some travel and want the benefits even if it’s not to extent as it was
Note - i don’t have a corporate credit card anymore at my current company. If I were still at big 4 the Amex Platinum would have been covered there
