I’m a writer, just trying to see what inspires other visual people. I follow a ton of my art director friends on Pinterest and have found it really useful to see what kinda stuff they’re seeing and liking. I have a few of my own boards and am always pinning stuff/looking for inspo. Just wanted to see what other people are inspired by. Sheesh. Tough crowd.
I think it’s great a writer is taking such interest in visual art. Maybe you can recommend some books for the art directors making comments to read?
Respectfully we’re on are.na, get with it
Admittedly it’s not intuitive at first but that’s part of what makes it so great. It’s Pinterest without algorithms or ads (thank god) and it does require more work to find what’s good on there but it’s more rewarding. The content I’ve found on there usually isn’t as commonly found on other platforms.
I love this question - everyone should always be curious what inspires others. No need to explain yourself and even those at WK need new sources.
- agree ask people in the office (even in the creative slack thread, this could actually be great just how the music thread shares what they’re into.)
- I still use Pinterest, but also dieline for design specific, film.ai, are.na, and even hypebeast just to see what else is going on out there
- I get into ig holes where I follow a designer or creator I find interesting and scrub who they follow to see other designers I may not know yet
- look at the credits of work or films I’m into and look up those people and their work
- not frequently but when reps reach out I browse their sites and all their artists to get inspired
Have you tried designspiration? Usually good for some designs to kick off ideas
Ooo this is cool, thank you!
I don’t understand this. Creative people are… naturally inspired. We collect inspiration because we obsessed about processing it. If this isn’t you, stop pretending you’re creative, and admit you love working with creatives.
holy shit shut up
hey just ask creatives in person at the office, we’ve got some rly generous people with insane taste who would be happy to share
Should we get a creatives-amongst-eachother thing going where we share interesting stuff when we see it? You don’t often get to link up across agencies to do that kinda stuff.
