in my opinion, yes. You never know if they might choose to terminate you instead and not honor the 6 weeks notice period. For me, I secured an offer 3 months prior to when I was actually going to leave and just gave a standards 2 weeks notice when the time came.
Edit: just wanted to add that it also depends on your employer. Some places ask for a longer notice period for upper level roles since they take longer to fill
If there's no advantage to you, why do it? If you think the organization would appreciate the longer notice, you might consider it in the spirit of not burning any bridges. But given that it could place you in a vulnerable position, you'd probably be best to keep your cards close to the vest and give two weeks notice when the time comes.
2 weeks. I gave a month when I put my notice in as a SM and will never do that again.
Bro why you gotta be “nice” with 6 weeks? You gotta man up and leave
Read your employment agreement. Lots of bad advice in here. I would go in willing to honor whatever you signed up for but bring a plan to transition your engagements sooner and leave within a timeframe you’re comfortable with.
I generally meant bad advice on FB, but your statement is probably true here and the rest of FB too. People with little to no knowledge or experience of the subject saying it how they want it to be instead of how it is.
Depends on your employment contract you signed when you started. If you go by the notification duration in your employment letter, the HR folks are typically good about helping to make sure you stay on the full window.
Thanks didn’t even think to check that! It’s 3 weeks.

KPMG requires 8 weeks (60 days) for senior managers.
Just go with what the standard is for your role.

PwC1: No. KPMG senior manager/directors and above sign a contract that requires 60 days notice to quit on behalf of the employee and 60 days notice to fire on behalf of the firm.
Every firm is different but once you hit SM/director having legally binding notice periods is a lot more common.
When I left EY as a senior manager, I gave one month notice, in line with the agreement I signed when I was promoted to manager. Granted it was around busy season but it was the right thing to do and I already had an offer in hand at my next step.
