Hi all,
I just came to realise Deutsche Bank has a fixed rule of max 30 to 35 % hike on fixed component and remaining 10 to 15% variable i.e. total 50% max hike you can ask for no matter how good, skilled you are.
Is it true?
(I got to know this when an HR called me for a Frontend developer role)

High billable req for salary. Would expect 1900
What’s the practice area? I do WC insurance defense, my billables are usually 225 a month so 2700 a year and I make $120k plus bonuses. I am on the lower end for money but the billables at other firms are higher so I’m about average overall. I think it depends on what area of law.
A lot of items in comp are task based.
Please tell me you’re kidding. For that salary in the Bay Area? Apologies, but if your friend is going to work in a sweatshop the least he/she can do is be compensated commensurately.
Leave your job and become a biglaw paralegal. You'll make more, esp. in OT.
LP1, good for you.
HUD defined “Low Income Limits” in San Francisco as $82,200 for an individual and $117,400 for a family of four in 2018, based on 80% of the area's median income.
No?
?
Lol
Bad big law like hours and high COL city
Not at all. For $119k, they should get 1900 hours out of a first year associate billing at $195/hour. Any hour requirement beyond that, and it’s a bad deal for the associate. I think the rule of thumb is that your salary should be 33% of the hourly fees you generate over the course of a year
120 in the Bay Area is low. If the firm is located outside of Sf then it would be doable because you could live in a lower cost suburb and not have a horrendous commute on top of a crushing billable hour requirement. But if the position is in the city, it would be really tough to find a comfortable place to live without having an hour- hour and a half (or more) commute each direction on public transportation because it would take longer and be almost impossible to afford to drive in on that salary (bridge toll $7/per day and parking $400+ per month).
Cosign. Many tech companies hiring like crazy in the burbs and a lack of housing means that Most Bay Area burbs are no cheaper than SF, and commutes, and cost of car ownership (gas/ins) eat a lot of what possible savings there might be.
It all depends on what your hourly rate is. Your salary should be dependent on the individual revenue you produce for the year.
Should is the operative word.
What’s his total comp after bonuses?
Is this a first year associate?
That seems low for the amount of billable hours.
Lol there is a lot to unpack in your reply A3 - but however as an Sf native I would not consider 3500 per month for a two bedroom expensive I am paying 3000/month for a one bedroom but I walk to work everyday - so you get what you pay for. So thank you for confirming that there are much cheaper places to live outside the city lol.
