Hi Fishes, I grabbed an offer at Accenture with 12 LPA fixed for Level 9. I'm not getting a retention offer from my current company at 13.5 lpa. How do I go about a counter offer with Accenture HR? Also tell me how to approach this situation smoothly.
If HR doesn't fulfill the counter offer, is it ok to accept 12 lpa fixed for Level 9 and when will I get a hike here and how much would it be approximately?
Accenture Please provide your insights. This is my first switch so I ne more exposure

I got 2 weeks per year x 10 plus PTO it was pretty sweet
er years of service did you receive for your level?
Can be negotiable depending on seniority
My severance is very explicitly defined in my contract so doubt it would be negotiable
Negotiation requires leverage. In a situation where your employee wants to fire you, your leverage is significantly limited. It is not impossible, but I can’t think of very many options - maybe knowledge transfer or completion of a critical initiative. In addition unless it is specifically spelled out in your contract, I’d be careful as you could lose whatever it is they’re offering.
@SM what firm?
Some Sr. Level execs have clauses that potentially void severance if they ebgin neogiations.
Partner 1, this was not performance related. This person had great performance. Just a question of overhead.
That doesn’t really change my answer. Negotiation requires that both sides want something and are willing to gain/lose something else to get it. By default, your friend has pretty low leverage here because the employer decided to eliminate them for whatever reason, ie they don’t want them.
You asked if you could negotiate. The answer is you can but you are starting at a significant disadvantage; they don’t want your friend - he/she has very little to offer to them at this point and quite a bit to lose (unless there’s a contract spelling out the terms).
Not trying to be cruel and wish your friend all the best, but you’re just not in a very good position to negotiate.
Agreed with P1, particularly if the person in question is at a non-exec level I doubt the company is going to negotiate. Why would they?
If the package is just a “we’re sorry” then I agree.. However not the case here. The package severely limits what he/she can or cannot say or do. It’s a contract.. they are receiving something in return of paying a “severance.” Therefore they are asking for something in return.
