At this point in career, would you take a step down in title to grab a transfer opportunity and get out of a toxic work environment ?

I second S1. Doing the work I like and billing for it. Not on the promotion treadmill and don’t have to deal with that, while maintaining and extending my connections at the firm. Also don’t have to do internal initiatives.

Not a step down to become an independent management consultant, LLC. GTFO you’ll love it.

Agreed. I got out of B4 after I was told they wanted me to be a career SM. I doubled my $$

if you can afford to in many different ways, then yes, piece of mind in a normal work environment is very much worth it

Absolutely.

Serious q - why do you think your work environment is toxic?

Is it something you can ignore? Our pays in consulting are quite good and worth taking some $hit for

I would like to take a step down but that would also mean a sep down in pay

Yes

Hi fishes,

I think I am slipping into depression. My life seems to have no meaning and all I do is work. I don't get time for myself or my family, friends and loved ones. But I can't leave my job and take a break as I need the financial support.

I also feel I am earning way less than my peers which makes me feel like a loser. 4.5 years of work-ex and 16LPA.

What should I do? I need good wlb but also need money badly.

Recently I cleared 2 technical rounds and had salary discussion with HR on 26th July.
When I enquired about offer letter last week, hr replied in mail that "Since your education under blacklist with cognizant, we are unable to process with your offer. Many of college alumni are already working with cognizant. Even mailed them what part of education is blacklisted but they are not replying.should I still expect offer letter from them?

Wishing your inboxes a quiet late afternoon on this fine Friday 😬

My marriage is beyond repair I think. Husband just said we keep having the same conversations over and over in the past year about things we’ve been trying to fix. Is a year enough time? 11 years together for reference. And I don’t think his statement is true - he literally mentioned one of those things last week that he was happy about. I just can’t do it with these vague statements in arguments.

What would u do? 3 YOE HCOL city and I have 2 potential options:
1) move to a boutique healthcare strategy consulting firm in a similar role as I have now (client facing consulting role).. 120-130 base + 20% bonus
2) a product specialist role at Meta (FB). This told role product management, it’s analytics heavy. $107k base, 10% bonus, $30K stock.

At the end of the day, TC for both is similar. As far as exit opportunities I’m not sure what is better, so looking to get other people’s opinions.

My observation is that it is hard for consulting partners to land the quality public or private board roles everyone naturally targets. Despite there being a significant amount of exceptional talent that could be deployed, there is a big bias against consultants. Everyone wants “operators,” but I feel every board could also benefit from one current or former consulting partner. But sadly, that’s not the way the external world looks at things...

Has anyone here been able to recover from career setbacks caused by Dot Com, 9-11, or Great Recession economy? Just turned 40 with 15 years of relevant industry experience, and my Big 4 employer brought me in at a level designed for 25 year-olds. Career progression is apparently based on time in role rather than performance, so I’ll have to spend 8 years climbing back to the level I was at pre-recession. Is there another way, or is my career stuck in neutral?
