Was considering moving to NYC but being an Asian female and seeing all the hate crimes against Asian females makes me nervous 😞 wanted to get a sense if this fear is warranted
Looking to take a 3-4day trip to somewhere that is within ~4hrs of both NYC and Philly. It would be for a family (everyone is over 21 but not big drinkers), next weekend. Family is super picky, we are looking for an pal inclusive resort type place, or something unique/interesting thats not city-heavy. Any suggestions? So far we have Lake George, Ocean City, a resort in the catskills, and mystic ct/newport ri. Any suggestions are welcome!
What would you do if a company revoked their offer just before the deadline and now wants to re-offer?
A very senior person in my company who’s married working in a city away from his family invited me to his apt and offered to cook dinner for me. Am I overthinking or does he have certain intentions?

Let’s kick this off by talking pay raises. I’m a newer ACD and don’t think I’ll hit the CD bump for a while. Started at 150. What sorts of bumps have you all experienced within the ACD title bracket?
I have had the honor of having been called a dummy by both Hadley Wickham (Hadley, “I’m surprised your code runs.”) and Dirk Eddelbbuettel on stack overflow. Who is the smartest person that has called you a dummy? They did both reply and answer my question so I win :)
I just billed a 14.7 hour day while having my kids 6 and 4 as a divorced dad. I’m shocked but no one to tell who will get it so I’m posting here. I feel like I beat WFH... we even took a walk

Feeling like my life is racing by being on the road 20 years, and saddens me that when I get home tonight my SO leaves on a business trip.

Has anyone here ever tried negotiating “at will” employment terms in the US? I’m curious what specific terms folks have asked for and how the potential employer reacted.
This week I found an app on playstation4 and Apple TV streaming called Pluto Tv. It’s free and has a bunch of old shows playing 24 / 7. Including MST3K, the Rifleman.
Any male 🐟 that can share the experience of starting alpha blockers? I take it at bedtime and feel like I have a head cold in the morning. Dizzy all day too.
Does anybody have any experience getting a Grandpad or Jitterbug (or similar) for an elderly relative who is not local to you? My Dad is reluctant to carry a cell phone and never uses the flip phone I got him 10 years ago but maybe if it was more basic /easier to use he would (?) I told him if he goes out walking he should be carrying one. He has a history of falling a few times a year and I want him to be able to call 911 if he needs to. I’m a plane ride away. He lives by himself. He refuses

How many of you have had to curse out our Millennial/Gen-Y friends about calling us old and inept.
Yesterday my younger brother called me looking for good hidden swimming spots in the mountains. He was up there with a bunch of friends and their original plans had fallen apart hard. And I go much more often than he does.
I told him I had map pins that are EXACTLY what you need for these hard to find places. I can send them in 10 mins when I get home.
Reply? Forget it, I'm all set.
Yep, 10 mins is too long. Here I was expecting "Wow! That's fantastic!" How silly of me.
My observation is that it is hard for consulting partners to land the quality public or private board roles everyone naturally targets. Despite there being a significant amount of exceptional talent that could be deployed, there is a big bias against consultants. Everyone wants “operators,” but I feel every board could also benefit from one current or former consulting partner. But sadly, that’s not the way the external world looks at things...
53 here and thinking about the future - looking at a major decision point at 60 and then seeing where I am at that point. Opinions and plans on transitioning to “the next phase”?
We're aiming to live long enough to spend it all. If we die younger there is a substantial estate and only nieces and nephews. I have three topics that I'm requesting your thoughts on before I engage an attorney;
Saw a post today where a young woman opines that 55 should be mandatory retirement age - assumes we are all on boards and wealthy.
Anyone else have trouble separating who you are from what you do? I think a lot of our generation built our self identity around our work. If I take my work away, I'm not really sure who I am.
Is anyone changing their retirement plans based on COVID-19 realities and the future of work.
