I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY

Coach
I have more money than I will ever be able to realistically spend. There is no chance I would spend $3500 for a basketball ticket. I have spent $1k per ticket to see my team in the World Series, but $3500 seems stupid.
Sorry P1, if you had “more money than you’d ever be able to spend”, $3.5k is irrelevant.
Let’s say you have $50M. 3.5k is not a concern. At $100M, it’s not even on your radar.
I hope you are a knicks superfan.
Yes!!!

Not a huge Knicks fan, so let’s say $10m
That or someone I loved really cared. Then it would be $300k
I mean for just one basketball game I would probably pass. If it was the Super Bowl where one games decides it all, okay go for it. $3500 for one of seven games is a bit excessive imo. If you won’t miss the money though, go for it.
It’s your money & you can’t take it all with you.
You know - I can see the logic behind this.
I wouldn’t even pay that for front row seats for a Rush concert, and I can afford that with no impact to my life or finances.
I wouldn’t do it, but it’s not an insane amount of money if it fits into your budgeting / planning. I spent more than that on vacations at a 10th of my current income. Just depends what you value.
The limit does not exist
This could be once in a lifetime event as the Knicks have not won since 1973. If you are a big fan, I mean BIG fan, why not, who cares about the money. You can always make more, but you can never replace an experience.
Just need $3,501
Well now with all the BNPL bs you won't even need 350
I don't care about basketball, so I wouldn't pay that no matter how much money I had, but if it's worth it to you and it will seriously impact your financial health, do it. I make $350-400k/year and spent ~$40k on a two week luxury vacation last year to Tokyo (me & spouse) - zero regrets. It was worth it to me and I had the cash saved to do it, but I'm sure there are people who would think that was crazy.
I think that's the point of the whole thread - how we each decide to spend and what's worth it is different. We had an amazing time, and it was the only vacation we got to take last year - we definitely could have spent a lot less, but I do not regret anything we spent money on for or during that trip.
That's about 10x the limit I'd spend on any basketball ticket ever, so...
That said, I echo what others have said--if it means that big of a deal to you and you can do it without causing yourself financial distress, go for it. Many of us have splurged that amount or far more on vacations and the like, so whatever makes you happy.
lol never
I wouldn’t do it for the Knicks, but I am spending that amount to go to a World Cup quarterfinal game so if it’s important to you and you have the money I say go for it
$3500 each and purchased 3…me, my husband, and one of our kids (other kids aren’t into soccer and they chose other experiences instead).
I make north of $600k between work and real estate.
$3500 seems like a lot of money to watch the knicks lose
Right?!
These things don’t happen often especially for die hard fans. Enjoy the memories but consider what it does to your financial plan. Which is more important to you? How much does it push back your retirement? Could be 3 months to recover but with the memories it’s worth it. If it’s 6 months then watching it at home or sports bar is certainly enough.
OP I hope your $3,500 ticket was for last nights game and that you went!
I saw tickets going for 100-500k. Where did you find it for 3k?
The crappy seats are going for that amount
Anywhere from anywhere from 100k+. If you’re at a 100k, you are certainly not making enough to consistently make purchases like that, but you can occasionally if you want to. No one would bat an eye at someone making 100k and taking one vacation per year. Seeing the Knicks in the finals is more valuable to that person than the vacations, why not skip the vacations and see the Knicks?
I told my husband if his team makes the world cup quarter finals then he can go. You only live once I guess lol but he's the rich kind of people that thinks my salary of $250k is pocket change lol.
The Knicks are going to lose in 5, so wait until game 4 or 5 and you can get the tickets at a huge discount
I think it’s safe to say at least that the Knicks do stack up ok against the Spurs and they play in the same league.
I went to the Superbowl a few years back, which costs more. First, you can't need the money (100% discretionary) and it was a once in a life time experience. I can afford to go again, but likely won't.
