Been at a highly regarded insurance defense firm since this past August. 180 hour per month minimum. Working in both state and federal court. I enjoy the people I work with, but am making substantially less than some of my peers. All while working quite a few more hours. Student loans start in June, and I am starting to get nervous.

Too early to lateral? Considering applying to big law firms near me. Open to practice areas other than litigation. Any advice?

Recently got a contract job at Facebook NY. I’ve mostly only been a FTE for the entirety of my career, so a bit nervous as I want to eventually be offered FT but feeling a lot of pressure to perform for the next 5 months to prove my worth. At some point it will surely get exhausting. Any tips for how to deal with this? Also curious to know what a mid-level PM normally gets paid as a freelancer?

I recently raised my rates after being told I wasn’t charging enough on here. Both of my main clients have already responded saying they either can’t pay me my new rate ($125/hour with 15 years experience) or are interested in “talking further.” So naturally I’m starting to freak out a little bit. I’m still pretty new to freelancing full time. What do I do/say? Do I hold my ground and hope for clients that pay me what I’m worth? Or lower my rates/standards and hope I can make ends meet! Help!
