Don't worry buddy. I started in IT at the same age. I knew I entered the industry at a very late stage. I had to take a compensation cut to get entry. So I was adamant to change companies every two years to reach a decent compensation package. Today I'm satisfied.
Speaking from personal experience
1. Pick up adjacent skills like Data Analysis, Data Transformation
2. Work Hard. Become the go-to person for an important requirement
3. Network & Collaborate. With people in your company or in the client's side. Understand how your work contributes to the bigger picture, the Product or Service.
4. Be optimistic. Things will go up from here.
5. Speak to someone who matters, and share your ambition.
Good luck.
