I understand this might sound a little snobby but I'm not trying for it to come off that way. I've been around impressive people throughout my adult life. T-14 and big law have placed me in the company of some really accomplished individuals. It likely skewed the bar in terms of what I find as impressive.

My girlfriend's sister works at a Fortune 500 company and views herself as very accomplished. She's not a good person. I also don't find her impressive so I don't particularly try

I get what you’re saying and if she puts down others, then that is lame and cringe of her. Note that each person has their own success journey, so try to avoid ever sizing up or looking down on anyone around you.

My best friend in college grew up in a very rough neighborhood of the inner city, first one to graduate college in his family and works as an engineer at some random company. He worked 2 jobs throughout college. His 9-5 job might not be eye-popping at face-value but I find his accomplishments more impressive than some of my peers with trust funds that work at V5 went to top law schools.

Agreed - everyone’s idea of success is different based on their expectations and what skills and assets they were born with. I feel really lucky and accomplished to have my big law job, but If I was born looking like Angelina Jolie I would be like “wtf am I wasting my life, I should be a celebrity!! Why does my husband look like a normal person rather than the world’s sexist man“ 😂

likefunny

You find big law attorneys impressive or startup founders, CEOs, etc.?

Not saying those people didn’t work hard but I’m more impressed by creative types, philosophers, etc.

Just curious how she’s not a good person? Or how you define good person? Is someone a bad person because they aren’t as educated as you? Rich? Those would be helpful because right now you just sound elitist af and I don’t think that’s your intention.

What you should do when dealing with a very toxic worker that keep on sending passive aggressive messages to you as well as in group chat and email.
Things like when you answer his question he respond: I know that
Or when he keeps on saying my change requests were just minor in group meeting but actually not.
And keep on saying how hard he works when he clearly wasn’t and already underperformed compared to an intern level.

How to not let this toxic co-worker not poison me any further?

If you notice that a junior associate on your team has over-billed, how would you handle it? I don’t want to get them in trouble, but noticed that they billed extremely high numbers even though I was doing all they work on the deal and they completely disappeared other than for client conference calls. Certain things that they billed for on the final invoice, I alone handled and never asked them to do. Appreciate any advice. I’m a mid-level in case it helps for context.

Any advice on how to tastefully tell your manager that you no longer want to be a charge nurse anymore? For us being in charge is having full assignment 3p-7p & being responsible for assigning pts , communicating w/ supervisor about various issues, making the assignment for next shift, and a mini report about each pt for the next charge. On the weekends, same responsibilities but 7a-7p. We don't get any additional pay for being in charge and I'm sick of the added responsibility and stress of it.
