Are you sure it's a manager role?
I only say that because I know how hard it is to come in as an experienced hire as a manager
I doubt it's a manager role
Did they use the term 'acting manager'?
You will be brought on as a senior up for manager in 1-2 years, not as a manager.
Stop day dreaming, OP! Unless you are bringing revenue with you.
They usually bring you in at the level or a bump lower than you would be at your client, rarely is it the case you get the bump up. Gives you time to prove yourself capable to manager before you get the title.
It doesn't even work the other way. If you're S2 at PwC and haven't been an early promote, you got 5 busy seasons under you which for most firms would put you up for manager consideration. I recently interviewed with RSM for "manager" role and turned out they wanted me to come in as "supervisor" and then promote in April if things worked out. Not a lot of firms will hand out manager from the start. But every scenario is different so best of luck to you OP!!
No shot it's a manager role
PwC 6 - I got brought in by RSM as Manager (more like, I insisted on the title)... from 2nd yr Senior at Deloitte. I did have some non-US big 4 experience before I started as Associate in US though. It's possible; just saying.
@RSM 1 - Man I pushed really hard for at least the title but they said no. I will say though the offer was interesting because it was higher than the top range of senior salary in my market (based on what I was told from my partner during last year CRT). But I just assumed the salary figure would flip to PwC favor once it reached M1
