Going to be remote for a while so it’s time for a change!

I have been working remotely since covid getting nothing but positive reviews. My company is not remote friendly and is now telling me I have to return to the office or I lose my job. I just found out a co-worker had a remote position created for them, without a job posting, without an interview and without the experience required (normally a license or certification would be mandatory). I understand life isn’t fair but is there an ethical problem with this?

I love my WFH in PwC India & base location of Kolkata. & the best thing is stability in PwC India, they never lay off!!

Received an offer to lateral to a Big Law firm in my current state. Kind of my dream job. Recently decided with my spouse that we’ve had more than enough of our current state and we want to move out of state next year. In the state of CA for a full time non-exempt role. If fired without warning (no previous warnings/feedback) ⚠️ for "performance" (although performance was arguably good) or actually "team fit" (politics), do you have any case or legal standing?

Assuming an economic downturn/recession will happen in the near future (1-2 years), how do “safe” do you view jumping from your company to a smaller consulting company?
