My kids are over the nanny thing and we do aftercare. Camp for summer. Sick days are always a problem. Does your firm have the emergency in home care option?
We had a FT nanny for 5 years and then gave her up when kids started K and pre-k. It was a tough transition because the after-school care option is not great and finding someone reliable for PT after-school hours has been hit or miss. Summer is easier, as we hire a college student usually and have the kids go to some camps to break things up. Although I sometimes think I should have sucked up the cost and kept the original nanny FT even though I didn’t need full-time, things are working out. Also, sometimes you need to change because someone perfect for infants or toddlers may not be as perfect for K and elementary age kids.
Lawyer-wife became a stay at home. Was a game-changer (positive). Less money, obviously, but massive quality of life improvement for everyone in the house.
We do after school care for our girls and lots of summer and winter camps. The camps can be logistically challenging but we've made them work. If a kid gets sick, I work from home with the sick babe. I have a back up sitter too, in case a sick babe coincides with an important meeting or hearing.
We have hosted an au pair for the last two years and it’s worked well. An adjustment adding another person to your family (especially jumping from two two young kids to two young kids...and a 20 something year old!) but on balance it’s been a good thing. Learning about another’s culture in this intimate way has been awesome for us and the kids.
We do aftercare but are considering getting a nanny again as soon as the youngest is in K. I just have no time to look for one. Having someone in home who can do some basic housework too would be a game changer
Accenture India Hi All , I have recently got an offer from accenture with 8.5 LPA (7 lpa fixed) but in compansation breakup sheet all are mentioned as 0 . I have already accepted the offer letter 1 week before. Doea anyone have any idea on this? Accenture India Accenture Tata Consultancy
Coordinating summer camp is essentially an LSAT logic puzzle so I love it 🥰
Did the au pair thing. Never going back to that. My spouse recently became a stay at home. It’s been great for the kids and the family.
What didn't you like about the au pair?
