When was the condo built?
Upgraded to make will be dependent on the condition of the condo, and your comfort with the current setup. If you’re planning to do any flooring changes, I’d say that’s the one thing that is way easier to do before you move in. Painting, bathroom upgrades, swapping out lighting fixtures, etc. aren’t too difficult to do while you live there. Since it’s a condo, you probably can’t move walls.
For security, you may need to see what’s legal in the CC&R’s. Many won’t allow a doorbell camera that faces a common area.

I have never had a security system at a house (other than a ring doorbell). Security systems don’t do much IMO to actually prevent crime, they just alert you to it happening.
If you want, you can buy a security system sticker to put on your front door / window on eBay. That’s likely the most effective part of the security system in actual prevention.

Not sure what your condo allows but I recommend a ring doorbell camera. Can you do an electronic door lock? That and Wi-Fi thermostats are great to have.

I like the Honeywell T6 pro thermostats personally. I have had nest thermostats in the past that I thought were so/so.
For door locks I have a LOCKLY pro but I think Schlage encodes are the best. They just wouldn’t work on my double door.
