How long have you been working in the call center? What do you find most tiresome about this work?
About 18 months. I'm naturally introverted, so constant noise/talking is the most exhausting. My work hours aren't too bad, but lately, I wear out after the first few hours of the day.
Sorry to hear that OP. I've also been working in a call center for a while now, and while I managed to stay longer than most of my colleagues, I felt emotionally drained lately.
Oh my god, totally. I really don't think I'm cut out for this kind of work for more than like another year or two. Been doing it 5 years, and I feel like I have nothing to give anymore. The only thing I will say, is that it gets easier if you get into a management position. I was recently promoted and I'm on the phones much less.
I would recommend doing stuff you really love on your days off. That way, you have something to look forward to when the job gets sucky. This really works for me.
I feel you. What helps me these days is I try as hard not to think about the job outside of work hours, whether in positive or negative terms. Put work away when you take off your headset. This is the best way not to burn out. (Likewise, I don't worry about personal problems at work.)
When was the last time you took a vacation? Not saying any of us have a fortune in savings or whatever, but when was the last time you just had like 4-7 days of no work, no obligation other than to relax or engage in something you enjoy without having to look at the clock? Doesn’t have to be a fortnight on the Riviera, but hell, even a road trip out to some weird place like the House on the Rock, leisure traveling on a bus or train to somewhere interesting.
