A bit random, but has anyone exited to Apple and their new HQ? I’m super curious to hear how it is. And people that have left to FAANG in general, are the work place amenities/ bonuses worth it? Do you use them? Or does it just really come down to 💸💰? Apple Facebook (Meta) Amazon Netflix Google
Am so done with this job today 😭

Accepted a l5 consultant level offer from Google recently. This was 1 level down from the other position I started interviewing for before it went on hold. I do feel a bit down leveled and a compromise on comp as I didn't have competing offers from other fang.
I see another role open, probably at l6 for lead consultant, same location (austin)Austin. Is it OK to go back to recruiter and ask for this role/position? Google
I don’t think there’s much difference at that stage, it’s probably L4 vs. L5 (potentially) with some differences in all those factors that will be made up once you get promoted. Promos at earlier stages in the career are easier to come by more routine. Also at earlier exits you have more career flexibility, so can better consider moves to areas such as PM.
The biggest difference will be at the experienced principal levels (6-8 years post-mba) you can move over at L7 director for S&O and that’s much much harder to do internally.
Thanks G1!
Giving you some additional benchmarks. I just signed as a C2 for an L5 role. An SAC friend of mine just signed for an L4 role. A new M2 just got an L6 offer. Another M2 (a few months away from Principal) just joined as an L7.
Thank you so much!! 🙏🏾 what are the difference in roles like for the SAC (L4) vs C2 (L5). And any idea how long on average it takes to get promoted?
I'm a C1 and signed an L4 offer. <5 YOE though, and changing geographies as well.
While you make your decision, also factor in how comfortable you are with keeping up with the consulting lifestyle / rigour for the next 2-3 years (over and above the MBA).
