Holiday Season - at my former company, around this time of year I would have already gotten a ton of gift baskets etc. - not something I would ever take home but open up for the team and leave out. How do you find in-house positions?

Is it a good idea to accept LinkedIn invites from people you don't know or don't send any type of note along with their invite? I'm all for networking, but shouldn't a stranger send a note saying why they want to connect with you? (i.e. we work in the same industry and thought it might be good to connect?)

I work as in house counsel, and a lot of the employees are not qualified for their position and don’t understand legal/compliance even though they’ve been trained and should be competent enough to understand. I am constantly cleaning up messes and repeating myself and teaching rudimentary skills to the same people every day. Does anybody else feel like this or have advice on how to get through to those difficult people?

The response has been very petty, to the point that I’ve been called unprofessional even after I asked the hiring attorney whether I could give longer notice at the current company’s request.
