Do any of the MBB’s do DD for VC clients?
A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group

This is the defense side, but the examples (which are undoubtedly showcased because they are sexier than the average contract they get) are illuminating.
It really isn't that different from the work done by the big firms (Deloitte, Booz, ACN).
It's also worth noting that the practices of MBB are all tiny. McKinsey (the biggest of the 3 in fed revenue) has earned just a max of $100M in annual federal revenue (usaspending(dot)gov) for as far as the data goes back. Contrast that with up to $2B annually for Deloitte and Accenture *each* and $5B for Booz. And McKinsey also just lost their biggest contract (GSA) because of their audit/compliance issues, so their practice also just got a *lot* smaller - the GSA contract was a huge portion of their business.
All this is to say that there isn't going to be a lot of data out there because they just don't do a lot of fed business. And the best examples they have aren't that different from the good projects at any of the big firms.

If you're more interested in core mission work than thinking about all the consulting "tiers" of work, "strategy" supposedly being the best, you're better off targeting particular teams within the firms. ACN, Deloitte, and Booz all go after and win core mission work (data science examples include machine learning for clinical diagnosis at a health agency, optimizing postal routes, finding bad guys for a security agency; they also do win real strat work too) . But it's really about finding these specific teams within any one of the firms, not designating a specific firm as your home.

Our work for federal or any government is no different than our work for private industry. So we’ll do anything from procurement to org design to operations performance improvement, etc. it’s definitely not limited to systems implementation.
MBB does way more interesting federal work. Source: worked in big 4 and now MBB
OW1 how did you make the transition from
Big4 to MBB? Just curious in the journey!!
I swear MBBers and T2 people have some kind of a psychological complex in this forum.
