I was laid off in April when there was just email and phones. Cut to five months later and I’m working again. Yay. But suddenly it’s all Zoom, Slack, Teams, Slides, Sheets. Email is dead. And phones are only for Zoom, Slack, Teams, Slides and Sheets. It feels like I woke up from a coma in a shitty version of the future and everyone else is fine with it. How did anyone adjust to this?
Any advice on not letting frustrations come out in an unproductive way over slack chats or other virtual programs, especially as we use these more and more instead of direct discussions?
With so many new faces as Community Leaders, how do people feel about doing a zoom Happy Hour next Thursday? This will give everyone a chance to get to know each other, ask me or our CEO whatever is on your mind, and generally connect. Thinking like 730 or 8 eastern for our west coasters?
Hey guys. I’m the event planner for CLSA at my law school and was wondering if anybody is willing to be on a panel regarding ethics during the coronavirus regarding the way confidential information is sent and received, how you guys use zoom for depositions or any ethical challenges you’ve come across during this time. Thank you!
What is your avg screen time? I’m using at 7-8 hours each day which seems insane but maybe it’s because I use my phone for all the zoom calls?
Campus recruiters: I am not a premium employer on Handshake but I want to host a multi-school virtual info session. Can’t I use the same link for a Teams meeting (or Zoom or whatever) and request events at each of the schools I’m targeting? I know that’s a lot of manual work to set up the individual school events but is there any reason that wouldn’t work? It’s been a while since I’ve had to do this and I don’t want to have to re-do anything and look messy! Thanks for any tips in advance!
11:59 and can’t sleep because I have the WebEx leader has not yet joined the call music stuck in my head. 🤦♂️
When everyone is getting more than they’re full of Zoom meetings, what are some other ways to keep employees engaged, connected, and feeling like they’re part of something important?
I was having IT issues when my firm migrated to Microsoft teams. I was getting help and they took control to do their trouble shooting. After fixing the issue, he suddenly video called himself to test it all works. I was laying in bed naked when the cam turned on 💀
Slack is so amazing
Microsoft Teams is driving me crazy. I feel like I’m always at work. Yesterday I was at a family bbq and I was constantly getting pinged. Every time I get a message notification I feel like I’m about to have a panic attack.
I'm having difficulty making personal connections with students this year. I teach hybrid, so I have a room half full of students in front of me and half at home on zoom. I have tried playing educational games, I greet them each time I see them, I try to do small talk, I make positive comments on their work, it just isn't happening. Any ideas?
Was about to sell my slack shares earlier this week.. wow I got lucky. Will hold these 40 shares
IEP, 504, and those without internet will return in-person next week while rest of students remain remote. Regular Ed teachers may have students (mild Learning Disabled kiddos) in their room while teaching. They are saying it’s a liability issue if they have one student in the room with them, even though teaching other via Zoom. Thoughts? Anyone else experiencing this?
Recommendations for a good webcam for Zoom meetings? My laptop camera isn’t cutting it anymore.
i am irrationally angry/annoyed at my job and it’s affecting my personal life. My bosses expect me to pick up the slack from other coworkers and I am one of the only people on the team who constantly has statutory deadlines year round (both GAAP or IRS driven) so slacking off really isn’t an option. any tips on how to cope? i don’t want this affecting my romantic relationship
Popped a THC:CBD gummy around lunch to try and relax today since my anxiety was through the roof. Hit me way harder than expected. Still got all my work done, but my ACD totally knew during our zoom call
This has been on my mind for a few weeks, and I have to get it off my chest: Via slack, did you PING him? Or did you PANG him? Heard someone say PANG one time and now I’m lost…
Is the chase sapphire reserve worth the fee?
Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.
Is there anything your companies used to provide in office that they no longer do so since going remote? (ie: catered lunches)
Notice there are so many people with debate experience in consulting. Kinda impressed. Any highly recommended books related to debate or communication in general?

What do you invest in if you’ve already maxed out 401k and HSA and don’t qualify for IRA?
Pay at flatiron health?
I’ve spent most of my time below the line (promotion, digital and shopper) and while I think I’d kick some real ass above the line I think it’s so much more toxic and you can’t be old above the line
Me as a new hire : *panicked I was going to be fired at any moment.* Me 4 years into this : Maybe if they fired me, it wouldn’t be that bad of a thing for my life 🤣😂.
Has anyone been denied H1B after receiving a RFE? I just received one and uscis basically wants to know how my job is related to my education.
How much can I afford to spend on a house in Austin, TX with a salary of $175k and savings of ~$150k (no other savings of any kind other than ~$300k in 401k)?
I'm amassing a list of my clients' 401k's and other employer retirement accounts and would like to do some In-Service Non-Hardship withdrawals. Is there a list of employers allowing it?
How do you list your consulting extracurricular activities on your resume? Like being a part of a diversity council, accomplishments for internal initiatives, etc. Been out of college for 1.5 years and my resume needs an update.
I’m back to having no billable work again. My department almost completely dried up when covid started, so I’ve been relying on work from other busy departments at my firm to keep me busy since March. I feel like I start a new job every couple of weeks and am constantly begging for work. I’m just exhausted. Can anyone else relate?
Left to another firm. For my 401K, I have 2 options. Rollover funds to new firm or withdraw all funds in cash. If I were to withdraw all the funds, how much would roughly would I be taxed + penalized?
My school has been tech heavy for pcp quite a long time now. Well, our tech teacher retired and our district is “phasing out” that position. We will now be doing art as a pcp along with music and P.E. How can I incorporate art into the class room from that?
