Chelsea Piers Fitness vs. Equinox - which is better?

Current member of Chelsea Piers Fitness. Former member of Equinox. I live near CPF.

CPF is more a boutique gym experience, not a luxury chain like Equinox. CPF doesn’t have the Equinox “high-end spa” details (its bathroom is more perfunctory), and is more an “athlete’s gym.” So they are not truly comparable.

CPF’s top pluses for me are 1) the best pool I’ve found in NYC and 2) a facility the size of a football field, which was a social distancing dream during COVID. If you love rock climbing, sand volleyball, and using the full-size track, those are also unique and stellar features.

Equinox’s class offerings and multiple locations are its main advantages. I chose not to rejoin it when its owner was supporting Trump.

Yes, there is a basketball court.

Monthly fees for me are currently $240 plus tax. There may be new member incentives, however.

I have a somewhat unsteady, gappy work history due to several health issues — serious ones — that have gotten in the way since I passed the bar. My first major health issue I can easily explain as it’s physical, a major concussion. My other health issues are severe depression that affected my ability to work steadily. I am better finally, and ready to get back to work, but I don’t know how to explain this or even approach this during interviews/resume writing.

Anyone have any helpful advice?

Offtopic: Which is the best health insurance (company) to buy for parents? Please suggest as per prior firsthand experience in claims, settlement, premium etc.

My parent has a star health policy for which the renewal premium is drastically increasing (almost by 50%) every year at age 51.
With such increase I do not think it will be viable for long term. So planning to switch/port.

I have anxiety problems. Even the things that don’t matter much give me anxiety. Like I stress about keeping my salad waiting when sweetgreen notified me my order was ready for pickup.

Anyone else struggling with hormones / mood swings? I am almost 16 weeks and been having a real tough time lately, feeling really down and stressed about things. Sadly, causing tension between me and my partner as well as he cannot relate and seems preoccupied with business as usual. Trying to get out the funk and just telling myself it’s all the hormones.

Wife is 35 weeks pregnant and recently tested positive for Covid. Symptoms are mild to moderate. Doctor’s say no impact to baby if symptoms continue to remain under control. We are vaxed and boosted so not as worried about our recovery. More worried about the baby at this point. Anyone with similar experiences to share? TIA
