Considering a move to LA and here for a month to explore and see if it’s for me or not. Couple of quick questions:

1) I’m big time into cricket - is there a community of people playing regularly? Would love to check it out and meet some folks who are into cricket.

2) Areas relatively walkable and doesn’t require a car for everything? from NYC so used to do the walking life but also realize LA is spread out. Just looking for something that’s more in between. WeHo / Silver Lake isn’t my vibe.

Santa Monica or Culver City are relatively walkable in certain areas

Was going to say mid city around the grove as well as most areas of weho. Playa vista is walkable, but has absolutely zero character, doesn’t have many good restaurants, and you might get bored of it very quickly.

LA native but lived in NY for years. Nothing here is walkable like New York is. There are little corridors where you could have a coffee shop and a bar and a liquor store and a few places to eat and shop within easy walking distance, but you’ll still probably be dependent on a car, especially if you care about having access to the best restaurants and places to go, other people, or your work.

Not aware of cricket here but I’m not a cricket person so it doesn’t mean there isn’t any.

There is no cricket here

Most walkable without atrocious vibes is Beverly Hills

Brentwood is a good choice. Whole Foods, Ralph’s, bars on Wilshire, Sunday farmers market. You’re in between sawtelle, Montana/wilshire, and Santa Monica too so it’s a short uber/drive to some of the fun areas.

LA is the best! LA/OC is so large, there’s pretty much something of every single thing. Keep in mind: it’s not NYC, or any other concentrated ex-US city. It’s a beautiful sprawl. If you keep trying to find that you’ll be disappointed, but that’s just the reality. There will be areas you can walk, but you’re mostly driving there first. But it’s amazing. And the weather is amazing. Hope you like it!

I am visiting Moab and Arches National Park this year, and would love to learn more about biking in/around the park!

Are you able to ride the bikes on the roads throughout the park?
If so, are there places to lock up the bike at trailheads and/or parking lots to take in?
I haven't been to this national park yet, so I was curious how it compares to Zion for example, where it is easy to bike from "stop to stop" to view the scenery or do a hike!

Thank you!

Should I just quit the legal field?

I have been a paralegal or legal assistant since 2010. I have worked for small and large firms and a TPA. I've worked in L&E, PI, and ID. Billing hours gave me nightmares. Right now I'm in a hybrid paralegal/LA position where I'm responsible for all of the docketing and supporting the managing partner and 1 associate and their 90+ ID caseload. I make a lot of mistakes everywhere I work. I feel so incompetent. Should I just abandon this career path?

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?
