D1 disagree. You must be the lap dog drooling outside P's office. There are times when you should join the proposal team and times you shouldn't.
Agree with D1. Always look to sell or help sell. Sales is the only thing that matters besides a great network.
What level? Selling is not critical for SAs. But critical for directors I guess. I
No don't worry about this. Worry more about getting a project. I don't worry about sales. I just keep track of what proposals I have worked on. Selling is Partner/Directors job. You have little to no control over it.
Concur with P1, only downside is your until. Kinda in the same boat right now, fixed to work on a proposal...missed 2 client opportunities
I build relationships with my clients and identify opportunities before the Partner's do. I've also brought in new clients by working my personal network. I pull together proposal teams for my opportunities; lap dogs need the real consultants to bring them opportunities
First year manager, sold my first as SC. I agree with your last point. In the end, Partner is a sales job, and the people they keep around are the ones that sell. You don't fire the people bringing in money

If you think selling is just the partner's job, you'll never be one
Ok D1 I admire your passion. What level are you? I am simply not as sold on drinking the kool aid. These firms can drop you in a heart beat. Better off maintaining outside contact so if you need to jump you can.
Apparently a lot of the partners planned a mini coup and left a few weeks back and took all their clients with them. Pipeline dropped by half
Shit for real? Post your burner.
Hmm. Not in my practice. All partners physically there today.
