Current Asc consultant at MBB looking for any advice on how to break into PE ops space. As a consultant without a finance background, how much modeling do I need to know? Im familiar with dcf, basic lbo. Any prep guide/study course that is good to get? Most of the info online is about how to prep for deal side, not a lot of info on prep for PE ops.

In PE Ops now and didn’t learn any of the financial modeling stuff. That’s what the deal team does and recruiters should be pretty transparent about what interviews look like

I’m in the same boat. Would love some chatter here

Just curious - what’s the reason to look for this move? How do you look at PE ops vs MBB consulting?

like

Agree with C2. All my opportunities came through recruiters. Interviews mostly case interview and fit, closer to MBB interviews than PE deal team. Also, processes tend to be longer and fit takes a bigger part - ie for consulting you’ll typically have 4-5 cases and either only 1 fit or 15-20% of those case interviews are fit, for PE ops you’ll probably have those 4-5 case interviews + another 5-7 fit interviews

Go through recruiters to find roles, I believe that's how most forms do it (at least that's what my firm does).

Interview depends on the shop but should be more consulting like with case interviews

New here, how do you find recruiters?

Hi guys I am posting this again I have offer of almost same package from Accenture and IBM . Accenture offering is very slight more but that's not my key consideration. Which company is better in terms of job security, work life balance. That's the top most factor I am considering. Learning and project and latest niche technology is the other important factor after first 2 factors .

I just screamed at my dad and walked out of our home.

This morning I was trying to get feedback from him on a business idea and his response was: Maybe you should focus on your career since you didn’t get a job in finance and had to settle for consulting, and you work at Deloitte... it’s a sweatshop. They didn’t even give you a fast track promotion did they?

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

I'm accepting an offer with a new company... Start in early Aug. Senior Manager role, though in this company that equates to Manager at most consulting farms. They did not had hunt me. I came to them for the job.

I have COVID delayed vacations planned for the last week in August and the first week in October.

Should I just cancel one of them? Or should I at least put both on the table and see what they say? They're going to hire me either way, but I wonder if it's a bad start to ask for both.

-Sr Consultant at Big 4: $110k TC
