Currently a senior in financial services audit for wealth and asset management. All I hear from higher ups is to not leave before manager because I’ll end up making less or I’ll be behind in my career, etc. Am I being served some strong kool aid? Hoping someone has been in a similar situation and successfully left.

Yeah

I would say it depends on what role you envision out of public; if you want to get into FP&A/other non-financial reporting areas, then leave now. If you want to advance higher in the financial reporting role, it's definitely more beneficial to stay until at least manager. If you leave now for a senior accountant financial reporting role, yes, you will be behind in your career for the most part versus people leaving at manager. Obviously there are outliers and not saying that you're 100% guaranteed to be behind; but overall, it depends on what you want to do for the rest of your career.

Appreciate the response! I do want to leave as I don’t envision myself in a financial reporting role but I don’t hear any success stories within the firm.

I’ve worked at Allstate for 4 years as a fast track inside property claims adjuster. When I was brought on, I made $48,000. Now, I make $62,800. Recently, I was offered a role as a coordinated adjuster for $65,800. I heard that the new hires were being paid a much more competitive salary. Would you say this amount is on par with what I should accept?

I am going on 36.5 years old. I don't want to leave now and tell any that I am pregnant within the first year but I also don't want to leave immediately after I return from maternity leave.
