Iâd take high salary Manager over SM if I were you. Youâll need time to establish a network so you can actually crush it as a SM.
Ceiling for Specialist ~350k
Ceiling for Partner ~ Infinity
Well then hereâs another one: if you donât care about sales and donât want to take any meaningful level of control in the firm: do the specialist track. Otherwise go for Principal. At the end of the day an owner can call (some) shots. An employee is just limited in that regard. If you think you can sell...go for it. The upside is insane and I like the idea of making enough money by 45/50 to be done with a profession and focus on a mission.
Took the offer: Advisor Manager, $178k, ~15% AIP bonus, $10k sign-on. D3, you had me at âinfinityâ đ
D4, 10y. Non-MBA.
What level?
D1, Manager / Specialist Master was floated initially by talent but Partner hinted at potential Sr. Manager / Specialist Lead. Feel like I might have a shot at shaking that out during negotiations.
Specialist vs PPD track imo depends on how involved you want to be with selling work
D3, brilliant insight. Never even thought of that.
And if it isnât clear: people who sell will always outperform anybody else at every level.
