Hi Fishes, I have an interview with PwC AC in the coming week. My tech stack is Power BI, SQL, SSRS,SSIS and Tableau. YEO -4 Current CTC is 9 LPA. During the initial call with the recruiter he asked for ny expected CTC and I asked for 17 LPA. Can anyone from PwC comment on this? Is this too much to ask or is this what someone at my current level would get paid at PwC. Please let me know!!!! PwC PwC India Pwc AC Deloitte Deloitte USI

“Traditional” is Partner track, standard metrics etc. There’s also a “Specialist” model, which is not Partner track but not as bad as PDM. I know a lot of senior specialist technical folks who don’t want to do the ladder climbing Partner thing and just want to focus on the work they lead.
I wonder if it's that specialist track.. it threw me off when they said traditional specialist.
Traditional and specialist tracks both lead to PPMD. Only MD for specialist, but that is increasingly the case for traditional, with Principal possible from MD.
Specialist is seen by some as “less than” traditional, even though by policy it is not, because traditional is expected to be more well rounded in all areas (project management, client relationships, leadership, sales, delivery, domain knowledge, executive presence, etc.), while specialists are sometimes hired even if they might be seen as lacking in some dimensions.
At the upper levels, weirdly (in the context above) specialists become focused on sales in their metrics: they are expected to be eminent in their field and be able to use that to close deals. Traditional is more balanced between sales and delivery, and traditional PPMDs are essentially expected to be “perfect” in all dimensions.
Specialist also does not have the up or out requirement, so you can opt to stay a SpM or SpL as long as you want, though if you do, after a certain point you are branded a “career SpL” and won’t have an easy time going up for PPMD.
If you have the well rounded capabilities of traditional, meet all the traditional metrics, and get network support, you can switch to traditional, and might even be switched to SM right before going up for engagement MD.
This is all from a Consulting viewpoint, I don’t have experience first hand in Advisory but I expect much of it applies equally there.
“Traditional specialist" or was it “traditional or specialist”? Cause they’re two different things
I know right, cos I thought specialist was PDM but they said "traditional specialist and not PDM". Like what?
I'm guessing I'm going to have to clarify explicitly during my interview. Also what are the huge differences between Consulting and Advisory?
PDM = project delivery model, which is not Partner track, and is used for admin resources or project-specific hiring.
I used to be PDM for Deloitte and communicated that I would only hire for PPMD so I hope I'm not getting bamboozled. My salary range is definitely not PDM so I should be fine though
Specialist refers to becoming specialized in a software/function/etc and become more of a SME rather than a generalist. Usually lower sales targets and focus more on delivery. Can go as high as MD level but lots stay at the M/SM equivalent levels.
