When work from office is going to resume???
Just got a job at Deloitte M&A in Atlanta and am currently looking to buy a house. Would you advise I buy closer to Atlanta or the suburbs? I personally want to be in the suburbs but I hear the traffic situation is quite bad. Current consultants in Atlanta, how much time do you actually spend in the office vs remote vs client site? Would you advise I try and stay closer to the office?

Grant Thornton is not requiring teams go in to the office nor client sites. It will be client and need-specific. https://www.accountingtoday.com/opinion/the-future-of-work-will-be-flexible-and-so-will-we?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=accountingtoday-li&utm_content=socialflow
I think a hybrid could work. I agree starting staff need personal connection. I have had number of remote walk through a to try to train staff but I feel it’s not as good as in person training. That said 2 days client 1 day office two days from home on average could likely work and make everyone have a better balance

Good luck to younger staff ever developing the kind of networks and skill sets necessary to sell and win work in the long run. Worker bees of the world unite. This is very unfortunate, OP, if true. I’m sure I’ll catch plenty of pushback for saying this, but I’m right.
@KPMG1 - sadly, I am not young anymore. But I am glad you classified me to younger generations.

How come the only person who seems to know about this new Deloitte policy works at BDO?
Should have led with Deloitte Uk lmao
That can’t be true. Maybe not required to go to a Deloitte office but they can’t tell clients they won’t send staff to client locations
Well yeah, why would you go somewhere when you’re unstaffed?
Does this apply to Deloitte US as well? Looks like that’s UK
What is USDC? Is it equivalent to PwC CoE?
Is this the new selling point to capture people looking to flee?
Not true
OP's source is a UK article. It's going to depend on service line, team, and client needs in US, but even more flexibility and less travel is expected.
can anyone who actually works at Deloitte provide details? I don't want to comment yet because i feel like this is whisper down the lane here and we are at the end of the line, who knows what the actual article says
We had some survey a few weeks back on WFH preference but I haven’t seen the results. There is a all hands call next week (for A&A) where they are supposed to discuss WFH hybrid. Based off of what I’ve seen so far WFH is going to be on a client by client basis and what their preferences are. I know my team is planning 2-3 days WFH but nothing has been determined yet.
Damn! And here PwC got rid of tax by creating a new “trust solutions” group.
That's the same approach for BDO. Work when you are needed
