They have a particular need for Spanish speakers. No medical background needed, just the ability to help bridge that communication gap.

This would all be done remotely, through Zoom/Skype/Facetime, and no specific hours are necessary. The hospital is looking for a deep bench of volunteers they can call on during those moments when they need this sort of help. Anyone interested should contact Roseanna.Ryan@StonyBrookMedicine.edu. Please also think of people you know who are bilingual (particularly in Spanish) and who would be interested in pitching in, and please forward this message to them!

Edit: If you are unable or don't speak Spanish, help by spreading the word! you can copy and paste this anywhere!

I just saw this, do y’all still need volunteers?

like

Contact them. The email is in the post

like

Is this still needed? Let me know. I'm bilingual in Spanish

like

You should contact them

I’m bilingual in another language. Are there other hospitals that may need help?

You may want to contact this hospital and inquire. Thank you!

I wrote them and they send me an automatic email saying that they don't need support anymore

Damn they didn’t even email me back to tell me that, just straight ghosting lol

Y’all I just need to vent real quick as my husband is gone for the week several time zones away and I’m alone. This late second trimester heartburn is unreal! I’ve never really had heartburn before but holy shit! I find myself pacing and feeling sick to my stomach because of it, unable to focus on anything else, and then I’m drained because all my energy is spent focusing on just this pain. I might have a spending problem. I don’t think (?) I have a full blown addiction, but I’m cleaning out my closet and finding stuff that is few years old, still with the tags on, and lots of duplicates. I get a dopamine hit when I find a good deal and I’m wondering if it’s going too far. I can pay my bills, but I’m wasting a lot of $$ on things I don’t need. I have multiple family members who are/were addicts and hoarders and my own behavior is making me nervous. Any other big shoppers out there?

I was just informed after the third round of interviews they’d like at least 5 references, two must be supervisors. My last job was a temporary remote job where I didn’t really interact with my supervisor and the jobs before that were at my family’s business (I do not speak to any of them for serious personal reasons.) Anything before that was grad school and I haven’t kept in contact with any professors from over five years ago. What should I do? 😕
