Same as any other B4; long hours, average pay, lots of politics. Personally, I’d take Deloitte over any other B4
Yup. What service line? Office? You interested in hearing about?
Tax in Los Angeles
LCOL, 2 years, 10 weeks of CSH 55+, atmosphere depends on office. Like anywhere once you recognize and manage personalities it is easier to adapt. Many research tools but not the greatest.
In terms of onboarding as a new employee - what do they do in terms of reference checks ?
@Finance1 - are you meaning more on the criminal background part or are you talking specifically about asking past employers how your work performance was? Full criminal background check and prior employment and education are verified. As for actually calling references to get a sense of how well you performed your job? Not officially - BUT - Tax people know each other - and know colleagues at other firms so getting the low down details is done behind the scenes if there's any red flags to check into.
It’s really going to depend on your service line. I’m guessing you’re BTS given you didn’t specify beyond tax. BTS M&A Transfer Pricing etc are all tax but could be totally different within LA. It really depends on the group you work with. That said I love it here. Come join D tax!!
What city are you in?
Going from EY to D:
1. Used car sales experience is no longer a plus.
2. Throw out the loud Untuckit shirts
3. Buy underwear
4. Adopt a fake hipster attitude
5. Learn all the latest pop culture trends
6. Wear expensive shades
7. Get a fade
8. Fake it till you make it
9. Try to work on offices one good client
10. PwC recruiter on speed dial
Ah ok - past employer - I’m assuming they can just disclose you worked there x to y . How soon do they need to complete the onboarding before you start ?
