Did anyone who went straight from law school or clerking to government practice ever regret not working at a firm first or feel that their career development was impacted in any way by not having that experience? I will be going straight to honors attorney program at a large federal agency from a clerkship and I can’t see myself choosing to work at a firm after, given what I know about the agency, the interesting nature of the work and WLB. But I wonder if I’ll be missing out on anything…

Not at all. My friends in BL are 5th+ year associates and just now being allowed to do stuff that I did 6 months into the job. I was lead attorney on adjudications going against teams of 3+partners plus a gaggle of senior and junior associates as soon as I passed the bar.

Wow! What agency?

I am a mere first year, so this probably not what you are looking for. But I went straight into honors out of law school and it was 100% the right decision. I obviously cannot brag enough about the work life balance. I have worked outside of my set 40 hours exactly one time. But more than that—I’m doing better work than biglaw. I’m running cases as the lead attorney while my biglaw peers are doing doc review.

That’s great to hear! What agency?

5th govt attorney and I agree with the comments above: work life balance + opportunities very early on

Guys,
Need some suggestions.
Currently I am working in TCS Kolkata with 6.8lpa, technology - Exchange 2010 (which is already out of support from Microsoft).
I got an offer from Infosys Bhubaneswar with 9.3lpa, technology: Office 365.
My hometown is Kolkata.
Hybrid model is okay for me if it is Bhubaneswar as my in-laws won't allow me to move to a different city. Problem is opportunities are very less in Kolkata and TCS won't hire ex- employees. Should I switch to Infosys or stay back in TCS..

I’ve worked in sales for 12 years (8 years retail sales and management, 4 years inside tech sales and management). I’m feeling the burn and looking for something else in the tech field. I’m making $140k. I have a college degree but no marketing, engineering, or product experience. What other departments/jobs could I jump to and still keep close to my OTE? I’m pretty good at Salesforce and have thought about a SFDC admin type role, but that’s all I’ve thought of so far.

My body hurts, my stomach is in knots, my head hurts. How is it that I have to mend a broken heart but also meet my billable hours lmao

The posting says due to the high number of applicants do not follow up, you will be contacted if chosen for an interview.
